These 12 Houston-area nursing homes have been cited for some kind of abuse, according to Medicare.gov.

While information on the case-by-case details on each of the dozen nursing homes is not available, Medicare.gov defines abuse as “the willful infliction of injury, unreasonable confinement, intimidation, or punishment with resulting physical harm, pain or mental anguish” and includes “verbal abuse, sexual abuse, physical abuse, and mental abuse.”

Chron.com compiled the list based on which nursing homes in each of Harris and the seven contiguous counties were found to be cited for abuse. Eleven of the nursing homes were inside Harris County, while only one (Brookshire Residence and Rehabilitation Center in Brookshire) was found outside Harris County.
