On November 19, 2017, AUTUMN CARE OF MARION was cited with 6 separate deficiencies for causing IMMEDIATE JEOPARDY and HARM to residents, including citations for failing to provide sufficient staffing to provide care to residents and for failing to keep residents free from abuse.

Under-staffing has been determined to cause patient injury and dignity violations according to numerous scientific studies. (Click here to read some of these studies).
The Institute of Medicine and the American Nurses Association have concluded that each nursing home resident needs a minimum of 2.80 hours of CNA care per day for safety and basic services. But AUTUMN CARE OF MARION averaged only 2.07 hours of CNA care per resident per day from January 1, 2017 to September 30, 2017, based on its daily payroll staffing records, as reported by CMS.
These low staffing levels significantly reduced AUTUMN CARE OF MARION’s labor costs. According to its most recently published annual Medicare Cost Report, AUTUMN CARE OF MARION generated annual gross revenues of $11,130,284.
