FACILITY FAILED TO PROVIDE APPROPRIATE TREATMENT AND CARE ACCORDING TO ORDERS, RESIDENT’S PREFERENCES AND GOALS.

State Findings:

Based on observation, interview and record review, the facility failed to ensure resident received treatment and care that are resident centered, in accordance with professional standards of practice for one of 19 residents (Resident #74) reviewed for quality of care, in that;

Resident #74 had a fall with immediate complaints of pain to her shoulder and hip areas and was not provided prompt intervention until 13 hours after the fall.

Resident #74 continued to complain of severe pain the following morning after her fall and was not provided effective pain management.

The facility did not obtain all of Resident #74’s ordered X-rays at once and as a STAT order . A pelvis X-ray was re-ordered 13 hours after they received incomplete results revealing fracture.

Resident #74’s hip and pelvis X-ray results were obtained 29 hours after the fall and complained of severe pain, results revealed a right femoral neck fracture. Resident #74 was transferred to a local hospital a clavicular was identified and she underwent a [MEDICAL CONDITION] surgery.

These failures affected one resident and placed at risk of health decline and diminished quality of life.
