Required Services for Residents

Nursing homes must provide certain services for their residents and must also follow strict standards for these services, stated in the Nursing Home Reform Act.

Required services include:

  • Meeting federal standards of quality when involved with social services
  • Meeting federal standards of quality when providing dietary services
  • Designing comprehensive care plan designed specifically around the needs of each resident
  • Meeting federal standards of quality when providing rehabilitation services
  • Maintaining standardized quality of nursing services
  • Meeting federal standards of quality when providing pharmaceutical drug services
  • Periodically assessing each resident
  • Employing a full-time social worker if the nursing home has more than 120 beds
